Go Monkey Designs Craft Aprons

I am in love with Go Monkey Designs’ craft and vendor aprons. But I am having a tough time deciding what I like best:

Is it the functionality of having SO many pockets? I could put my ipod, phone, keys, money, ID, cards, and even a pair of sunglasses – I would even wear this to the store!

Or could it be the whimsical and eclectic way she combines fabrics – florals and ticking and stripes oh my!

Or maybe the other gorgeous things she makes – like these yummy totes…

Ok, maybe it’s all of it – whatever it is, you MUST go check out ALL of the goodies over at Go Monkey Designs. Maybe you can help me pick out an apron – ;-)

Malphi Style Grand Opening

If you have never heard of Malphi Style, you are in for a treat – Susannah and her sister call their style “Rustic Chic“, and it perfectly describes the delicious colors, flattering lines, and feminine styling. All of their items – from Aprons(available ready made and as kits), dresses, and tops to ready to sew kits and bloomers (yes bloomers – they are to DIE for!) are unique and whimsical.

Although their online shop is based in England, you can still order the beautiful treats they offer from their Etsy Site. You can also get a behind the scenes look at the ladies behind Malphi Style on their blog Frills, Frocks & Fancies.

Keep an eye out as well for a giveaway in the next couple of months – but in the meantime, go take a look at their new shop!

Rick-Rack Attack Giveaway winner

Thanks to everyone who entered – I have NO idea how y’all chose JUST one of those pretty Aprons. I have a special place in my heart for Vintage Pretties – especially ones that show that they were actually worn, and used. I have one that has the name “Arlie” embroidered on the pocket. I always wonder who she was, and what sort of cook she was. The fabric of the Apron is butter soft, and gently worn, and even has the selvedge on one side – I will be sharing some pictures of my favorites in the weeks to come…

Back to the giveaway – that’s why you are here, right? ;-)

The winner of THEIR choice of Apron from Rick-Rack Attack made the following comment:

Congratulations Jennifer! Contact me with your information so Lisa can get your Apron to you…

Quick & Dirty (but oh-so-good) Salsa

This is one of my most-often made recipes lately – we put salsa on EVERYTHING, and although this has a bit of bite, my boys love it as much as the grownups do!

Domestic Chicky’s Quick & Dirty Salsa

  • 2 Cans Ro-tel Tomatoes, original (you can vary the heat by combining mild or hot), drained
  • 1/2 onion (I used purple in the picture above), cut into chunks
  • 1 handful Cilantro (mostly leaves, but a bit of stems too)
  • 1t salt
  • 1-2t minced garlic
  • few grinds fresh black pepper

Put the onion, cilantro, salt, pepper and garlic in a food processor or blender. Pulse til finely chopped. Add tomatoes. Pulse again til desired texture is acheived (we like ours on the not-so-chunky side). Serve with tacos, fresh tortillas & butter, mix into avocados for guacamole, chips, nachos, or my personal favorite, Wheat Thins (I know, but it’s SOO good!). You can use other brands of tomatoes with chiles, but nothing beats ro-tel!

*If you have ever been to Chevy’s Restaurant (or Anchos in Riverside CA), and you love their Salsa, try this, and add a drop of mesquite liquid smoke – it will be a dead ringer!
