New Apron Swap – Garden Aprons

Hi Apronistas!!!

Lucy and Shawnee of the Sassy/Flirty Apron Swap are very proud to announce the start up of our newest apron “club” swap.
Busy Bees Apron Swap
With spring in full swing in most parts of the Northern hemisphere, we would like to do a Garden themed apron swap. This swap is meant to be a little “Green”. With a tight economy we are focusing our attention this round on how be a little more self sufficient. A garden is a great way to save a few bucks and help produce some lovely fresh food for your self and your family as well. We will be posting garden tutorials and links here from big gardens right down to things you can grow on your counter top. Everyone should be able to find something to grow. :o )

The aprons to go along with this theme are Gardening aprons. These can be multi pocketed bib or half style aprons for holding seed packets, gardening tools, gloves, and such. Or it can be the big gathering aprons for bringing in produce, collecting eggs, carrying weeds to the compost and more. We have also included a garden party apron category if you would rather swap that type. So when you sign up be sure to let us know what kind of apron you are interested in swapping.

As the Apron Turns…

I think I need to host a contest to name my weekly Aprons around the web post. Any suggestions?

Gorgeous ruffled Apron to benefit the Hope Clinic from Splendid Minta (pictured above).

I am a real lame – O. I completely missed telling you about Kim Hendricks’ giveaway at Olive Juice & Co. Her Aprons are beyond adorable, and if you wanna know a secret (shhh) – Kim was the person I was writing about when I thought up the name Apronista – Hey, maybe I should have a trivia contest too!!

EllynAnne has begun her book tour – check out the dates here - I know she would be SUPER thrilled if you stopped in to say hi to her while she is on the road – and if you wear your Apron, she would be over the moon. Tell her the Apronista sent you! If you go see her, take pictures and send them to me and I will post them here!

Another great Carolyn’s Kitchen Giveaway at Frugal and Fabulous.

I am totally bummed she only makes Little Girls Aprons – Mad Bird makes adorable wallets and business card pouches too!

Over at Domestic Chicky – I am giving away a shmancy Kodak Printer – I can’t wait to use it for Appliques!

Have a great week Apronistas!!

How a Kodak printer saved my sanity (and how you can get one too!)

Ok, maybe not my sanity – there might not be much help for that…

You might remember a few weeks ago I was invited to participate in a conference with Laura Rowley and Kodakabout saving money around the house.  I learned SO much about little ways I could save, including using power strips to turn off “vampire appliances” and making more meals at home. I was also invited to try one of Kodak’s new printers at home to help save money on printer ink. A no-brainer, right? I checked the Kodak Print and Prosperwebsite to see how much I could save on ink, and it was almost $200/year! Total no-brainer!

Kodak ESP-7

The Kodak ESP-7 Printer really does do just about everything (except dishes *sigh*). I can pop in my camera’s memory card and print right from the card! I used it to scan fabrics for a clients blog design, and printed out some pictures from my trip to Cincinnati – all in a matter of minutes. The best part is that I can connect the printer via my wireless router, and print from another room (*swoon*)! No more switching computers JUST to print!

Ok, so that’s all well and good, but what about YOU?? Well, Kodak has generously offered all of us who participated in this promotion a printer to give to one of our readers!! To top that off, out of all 25 winners, one of them will be chosen to recieve a scholarship to BlogHer!  Meet fabulous women, listen to the best collected advice from seasoned bloggers, and see the sights in Chicago!

So – how do you enter?? Well, I thought I would make it fun and offer a couple different ways:

1. Go to Print & Prosper and find out how much you would save using a Kodak Printer. Come back here and comment with your #.

for another entry:

2. Tell me in the comments what YOU would do with a new printer – print out all your kids photos? Scan old photos to show on YOUR blog? I have some projects in mind to share here!

and one more:

3. Tweet this giveaway with the hashtag #chickyprint – I will add these entries to the pool!

Good luck! This giveaway will run til Friday May 1st at 9pm PST. Winner will be drawn at random and posted Monday May 4th.

These are the other blogs also giving away printers this week:

My Life Would Suck Without You

…just thought I would share the current earworm in my head – You’re Welcome :-)

I hope you all had a great Easter – ours was, um…filling. Ham, potatoes, salads, yummy carrot-pineapple cake (trust me, you will never eat Carrot Cake the same way again). One new thing I tried was making homemade Ranch Dressing – I used this recipe, and it was DELISH! I used the leftovers last night to coat chicken before I coated it in breadcrumbs and parmesan - SO yummy!  We have done well eating more REAL food – I am still counting points, and watching portions. I am only about 5 pounds down, but I discovered something on my cable’s On Demand choices – the 30 day shred. Any users/lovers/haters out there??

What is your most hated least loved homemaking chore task? If you ask my former roommate, she would tell you “All of them”.  I really don’t *mind* any of them anymore – I put on a cute apron, good music, and I can get into a Martha -type groove. But it’s still not my FAVORITE thing to do. Imagine my absolute joy surprise to find my oldest LOVES to vacuum – and he actually does a decent job at it! Now if I can just get him to LOVE doing dishes…
Butter Cookie Walls
I’m also still trying to get all the painting done – we did go with Behr Butter cookie for the living room (see above-just after painting)and breezeway/den/room where everything else goes. I had originally intended to use it in the kitchen too, but see those lemons up there in my header?? I thought it would be fun to have that picture made into a canvas to hang on the wall in the kitchen. It came out GREAT, but against the butter cookie walls?? Not so much. So NOW, I am looking for THE perfect green – kind of a spring-y, bright but not too neon or pea soup-y type green. I am choosing between sassy green and pear green so far – but I am open to suggestions!
I am off Monday to Cincinnatti to attend the Pampers Blogger Day with 15 other bloggers – I am looking forward to learning more about Pampers  and their commitment to vaccinating children against tetanus. It’s something we take for granted, but tetanus claims over 125,000 children every year in less industrialized countries. Thanks to Pampers and Proctor and Gamble, every time you purchase a pacakge of pampers diapers or wipes, it purchases a vaccine for a child – an easy way to help with something you might buy anyway!
I will try to update on the trip, but I will defnitely update next week – I have a new blog design to reveal!!
