BlissDom 2010

I don’t even know where to begin – how can you put into words all the many squeezes my heart felt in such a short period of time? How could I know that one of my dearest online friends would introduce me to the sister I never knew I had and my hair twin (and owner of the BEST blog name ever!)?

Or that a man with a red rubber ball could make me rethink so much about parenting, life and even blogging?

…that I would get to hang out for a bit with one of the most amazing writers/photographers/moms I know?

Or that I could feel like a 15 year old giggling girl just by being within 2 (TWO!!!) feet of this guy:

It was a joy to see faces I knew from last year, and to see new faces too – there never seemed to be enough time to sit and talk, even though that’s all we did!

I also lucked out in the roommate department again this year – I had the hysterical, smart, and truly lovely Stiletto Mom as my roomie -

Can you stand the fabulousness??? In case you live under a rock, that is Miss Alli kissing my roomie, and is the fabulous behind the BlissDom Conference along with Barbara and Paula. They gave us an inspiring, wonderful weekend, and I am insanely grateful they chose to include me again this year.

NEXT UP – Shwag, the photography workshop, love for ConAgra and who the heck is George Duran?

Off To BlissDom!!

Blissdom Conference ~ Nashville ~ February 4-6 2010
I haven’t packed, I haven’t finished my laundry, I need to wash my hair, decide what to carry on, check, and leave at home…
*sigh*

Who knew leaving home was so much work? This time tomorrow I will be in Nashville, hanging out with 500 of my new (and old) BFFs. This is my second time at BlissDom, co-conducting a photography workshop with some AMAZING women.  Oh yeah, and THIS guy is gonna be hanging out with us…

 Harry Connick Jr.

Yowsa…I may need to leave room in my suitcase for him.

I took a blogging vacation and all I got..

…was this lousy flu!! I hope you all had a lovely holiday – it was SO nice to not worry about even opening the computer for a couple of weeks. Of course it didn’t stop me from checking blogs, twittering or looking at facebook on my ipod touch (do you have one of these? Talk about addictive!). So I guess it wasn’t a TOTAL vacation.

Blissdom Conference ~ Nashville ~ February 4-6 2010

There is a new button over on my sidebar – once again, I am HONORED to have been asked to speak at BlissDom in Nashville this year. I will go more into detail in a future post, but if you are going, let me know! Let’s meet up and say hi! If you have never been, ask any questions you might have, and if you have been, I can’t wait to see you again!

Michael Buble hasn’t met ME yet…

Good thing too, because one of us would be in serious trouble. I have always been a fan of Michael Buble, but with his latest album, and his rounds on all the morning/afternoon/late night shows, I am bordering on adoration, even Misery-style passion. Seems appropriate that the album is called “Crazy Love”.

michaelbublecrazylove(ooh – looks like he’s gonna put a spell on you!)

This album has everything – great covers, FANTASTIC covers, including “Georgia on my mind”, “All of me” and “Heartache Tonight”. But the song that is on repeat on my ipod – “haven’t met you yet” –has to be my favorite. It’s catchy and happy and…

oh sorry – got a bit hypnotized by that picture ;)

So guess what? YOU have a chance to WIN this CD, provided by One2One network.

How you ask? Well since Michael is a romantic kinda guy, and one of my New Year’s resolutions is to have a monthly date night with my husband (and desperately need good ideas), I thought I would combine the two and make the entry for the giveaway your BEST romantic ideas – food, activities (‘cept THAT one – duh!), themes…I will choose one of the entries at random via radnom.org, and announce the winner Monday. BONUS ENTRY if you twitter, or post this giveaway on facebook or your own blog. Good luck!

Close Call…

We had a little bit of an adventure this weekend…I am in the middle of unpacking from our NEAR evacuation. There was a fire in nearby Oak Glen that started Sunday, and while it was a bit nerve-wracking, we were prepared, having everything ready to go at a moment’s notice…

We were still on the fence Monday morning, and it looked like we were in the clear, when a couple of douchebags (yeah, I said it – there is no other word for these morons) decided to set a fire not 1/2 mile from where we live.

Pendleton Fire

Yeah a little panicked now. But not so panicked that I couldn’t get a few cool pictures of the awesome air defense we had…

Yes, I am a dork :)

Still, the winds seemed to be in our favor until Tuesday morning…it was so chaotic I didn’t have time to take pictures. Cars facing out, monitoring the broadcasts (not the news – what a joke – you’d think we lived in Anarctica for all the news we got from the local networks) trying not to freak out the boys…it got a bit hairy, but we were never formally under mandatory evacuation order.

We were fortunate enough to get through this relatively unscathed – save for the clothes that smell like smoke, and all the stuff I have to put away now. We were lucky enough to be watched over by some of the greatest firefighters in the country.

All was back to normal yesterday. After school drop off, as I was going to the grocery store, the morning briefing had just ended and a line of 25-30 fire engines came the other way to take out hot spots, do mop up and finish the business of fighting a fire. I had held it together pretty well the whole time, didn’t really panic or stress, but when I saw EVERY car on my side of the road pull over to honk, wave and cheer these brave firefighters, I just lost it – I was (and am) so grateful for all they did, and it touched me that all these people were too.

PS -only one more week to enter the too-too fabu HP Printer giveaway, and keep an eye out for giveaways I am sponsoring at Pleasant Home, The Other Mama, and Eli’s Lids!
